If you have downloaded a set of Photoshop actions from Shutter Pulse and you need help installing and using the actions, please follow the instructions on this page. If you have purchased a bundle of Photoshop actions you will have several different sets of actions to install. These instructions will go through the process of installing one set of actions, just repeat the steps if you are installing multiple sets of actions.
Photoshop makes it very easy to install actions.
Step 1
First, unzip the file that you have downloaded from us.
Step 2
Next, open Photoshop.
Step 3
Find the folder that you unzipped and double click on the .atn file.
Step 4
When you have Photoshop open and you double click the .atn file it will be automatically installed. In Photoshop go to Window > Actions and it will open up the actions window, and you should see that the action set has been installed.
Using the Actions
To use the actions on a photo, first make sure that you have a photo open and if the image file has multiple layers be sure that the photo/background layer is selected. Click on the little triangle to open up the actions in the action set.
Our action sets come with a “run all” action that will apply all of the actions in that set. If you’re not sure which action you want to use this can be a big time saver. To run it simply select the “run all” action and click the play button.
Running all of the actions may take a few minutes (Please note: the “run all” action for our HDR actions requires a lot of RAM due to the steps included in the actions. It may take a few minutes to run, and on machines with less RAM available it may run extremely slow or not complete. If this is the case you will need to run them one at a time.).
After running all of the actions you can show or hide any of them in the layers palette to decide which one you want to use.
If you know which action you want to run you don’t need to play the “run all” action. Simply select the action you want and click the play button.
